Call of Duty makes “aggressive updates” to RICOCHET anti-cheat

call of duty mw3 and warzone anti-cheat update

Call of Duty fans have had to deal with hackers causing chaos in matches for far too long. From aimbot, to walling, and even shooting infinite explosives from their underbarrels, cheaters are doing all they can to make the game as miserable as possible for legitimate players. With Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone Season 2 going live, Team RICOCHET has shared details on the latest anti-cheat update.

Via the official CODUpdates account on X, Activision acknowledge that they’ve “seen and share your frustrations about a rise in cheating reports.” As announced in the post, RICOCHET has received some improvements in an attempt to diminish the amount of cheaters in Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone.

Activision provide a RICOCHET anti-cheat update

With the launch of Season 2 Reloaded, over 26,000 accounts were banned and Team RICOCHET rolled out a range of updates to the anti-cheat system. Recently, cheaters have been taking to the skies in vehicles and to combat this, a new “BOOM” mitigation measure has been added, causing vehicles that shouldn’t be airborne to randomly explode. Extra fixes to flying vehicles have been made, with “more on the way.”

To detect cheaters quicker, enhanced protections and increased response time for the kernel-level driver has been deployed on PC. Those speed optimisations carry through to Ranked Play, where hackers have been running rampant and ruining the competitive experience.

Third-party hardware device detection has also received an update which will hopefully stop cheaters from getting past the main lobby altogether.

Activision assure players that the fight against cheaters continues and further updates will be developed to address the ongoing issue. However, cheaters have continued to evolve and hit back with whatever RICOCHET has tried to throw at them. All we can do is hope that these updates pave the way for more effective measures to stamp out cheaters once and for all.
