As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance existing scenery packages across Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator, SCS has shown off its progress on its virtual rendition of the visually arresting A9 in Switzerland.
This famous stretch of road is known for its breathtaking scenery, nestled deep in the Swiss Alps. Now, it’s being properly modelled and added into Euro Truck Simulator 2.
Roaming through the Alps
As SCS puts it in its blog post showing off the progress of the project, “the A9 is a picturesque motorway which weaves through the stunning landscapes of Switzerland.” It serves as a major transport route through the country, but with the added benefit of offering a smorgasbord of natural beauty.
In Euro Truck Simulator 2, the scenery designers have covered the A9 from the city of Bern, through the valley of the River Rhône, and continuing on throughout the Alps.
It then culminates in the “legendary Furka Pass,” which is a very complex road for trucking purposes due to “its tight turns and inclines.” Despite that, the team decided to include it anyway for “players to experience and enjoy.”
Along with the inclusion of the A9, the Switzerland project will feature reworked villages, in addition to entirely new ones. More industries are also coming, including a farm and sawmill.
As is the case with every rework project, all of these changes and additions will be released as a free update. Seeing that Euro Truck Simulator 2 included Switzerland in its base selection of maps, every single owner of the sim will be able to experience the upgrades.
A release date has not yet been revealed, but hopefully it’ll be available sooner rather than later.
