As part of the continuous evaluation of the Fortnite Ranked system, Epic Games has decided to shut down all Ranked OG playlists. Those that want to continue battling it out in Ranked will have to switch to another Ranked mode. As for OG playlists, this will be casual only after Chapter 6 Season 3 ends.
Back in March, Epic Games pulled the plug on Ranked OG Zero Build, with the reason for the decision being put down to “matchmaking health.” As part of that announcement, Epic Games stated that “Ranked OG Zero Build may be brought back in the future, dependent on matchmaking health.” However, that is looking more unlikely than ever following the removal of all Fortnite OG Ranked modes.
It’s time to jump ship to other Ranked playlists
The Fortnite Status X account announced that the Fortnite OG Ranked playlist will be disabled at the end of the current season. Rest assured, competitive events focused on Fortnite OG will still be available on a regular basis.
Removing Ranked OG Zero Build did little to boost the Ranked OG battle royale playlist, indicated through its struggling player count. Those that want to continue climbing the ranks can do so in seasonal battle royale and Zero Build, on the various Reload maps, and in Ranked Rocket Racing (if you can find a match.)
The Fortnite Galactic Battle will come to an end with a live event on June 7, 2025. Therefore, fans of Ranked OG don’t have a lot of time remaining to continue playing the mode. Whether an OG playlist will get a Ranked variant again, only time will tell.
