Once Upon a Puppet first hit PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S platforms on April 23, 2025. The game’s charm in its environment and story is enough to captivate players, but the gameplay itself has received some criticism. Already, a Once Upon a Puppet port for the Nintendo Switch has been announced, including the Switch 2.
Become the puppet and puppeteer in Once Upon a Puppet, a 2.5D puzzle-platformer that is set within the world of theatre. Take part in a magical tale that combines classic platforming with puppet-inspired gameplay, in a story of friendship, self-discovery, and redemption.
Wear the glove of Nieve, a Stagehand exiled to the Understage, to take control of Drev’s strings, a puppet magically bound to her. As they journey to return to the Frontstage above, they will retell forgotten stories, uncover shadowy secrets, and learn their fate is interwoven with the kingdom of theatre.
The show must go on
Once Upon a Puppet will launch on June 25, 2025 on the Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Switch 2. It is available to pre-order on the Nintendo eShop until June 24, with 20% slashed from its original $24.99 price tag. After placing a pre-order, you will be able to pre-load Once Upon a Puppet, so you’re ready to play as soon as the game officially goes live.

The file size of Once Upon a Puppet on the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 is a mere 3.6GB. Prepare to meet a cast of characters (villains included,) solve puzzles, and re-enact scenes when Once Upon a Puppet joins its new system on June 25, 2025.
