Madden 26 was announced in a reveal trailer, alongside EA Sports College Football 26. Although many details remain up in the air until the full reveal in June, EA has confirmed the platforms that Madden 26 will be on and whether or not PS4 and Xbox One will make the cut.
Debates surrounding when developers should ditch last generation consoles continue to be a prominent talking point no matter what games you play. Some argue that catering to old hardware limits games, while others praise the continuation of support for older consoles for making titles more accessible.
Will Madden 26 be on PS4 and Xbox One?
The short answer is, no. Madden 26 will leave behind last generation consoles by skipping PS4 and Xbox One. The platforms Madden 26 will be playable on is PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via EA app for Windows, Steam, and Epic Games Store, and the Nintendo Switch 2.
Without old generation hardware holding it back, Madden 26 is expected to truly be a next generation experience. Additionally, this is the first time a Madden NFL game will launch on the Nintendo Switch family of consoles.

Madden 26 will make its worldwide debut on August 14, 2025. However, those who place a pre-order of the MVP Bundle or the Deluxe Edition of the game will get up to three days worth of Early Access, beginning on August 11, 2025. The MVP Bundle couples together Madden 26 and EA Sports College Football 26, along with plenty of other bonuses. Extra goodies are up for grabs for those that pre-order the Deluxe and Standard Editions, too. All the details you need to know on the Madden 26 pre-order bonuses can be viewed here.
