As Funcom gear up for the launch of Dune: Awakening, a huge closed beta will allow players to explore the open world ahead of launch.
The Dune: Awakening beta was teased in an announcement that delayed the release of the multiplayer survival game. The sheer size of the beta has now been revealed, as well as the dates of when players can expect to jump in.
The bigger the better
The beta will take place on May 9 and run through until May 12, 2025. It’s slated to be the largest beta yet, with more players being given access than ever before. Unlike previous closed beta tests, there is no NDA, meaning those involved can freely share information, images, and videos on Dune: Awakening.
The increased player count isn’t all that’s getting bigger. The closed beta will give participants the chance to experience the first 20 hours of the game and most of Act 1 of the story.
To be in with the chance of gaining entry to the Dune: Awakening closed beta, request access via the Dune: Awakening Steam page. When you are on the official Dune: Awakening Steam page, click on the green “request access” button, found below the Dune: Awakening character creator and benchmark mode.
If you don’t receive a beta invite through Steam, a global Dune: Awakening LAN broadcast will be live on May 10, 2025. During the stream, it’s expected that tens of thousands of closed beta codes will be given away to those that tune into the stream.

This will be the final closed beta as the full game will launch worldwide on June 10, 2025. Those that pre-order the Deluxe or Ultimate Edition of Dune: Awakening will be granted five days worth of Early Access.
