Dark Souls 2 seamless co-op mod in development

If you needed an excuse to jump back into Dark Souls 2, the seamless co-op mod is the perfect opportunity. Despite launching in 2014, the game still boasts a large-scale loyal fan base. Modders continue to support the game by adding new ways to play and making various improvements, keeping players coming back for more. A seamless co-op mod has the potential to see Souls fans flocking back to the game.

Dark Souls 2 not only dictated the direction of FromSoftware’s future Souls games, but paved the way for the genre as a whole. However, one of its biggest drawbacks is the limitations placed on multiplayer functionalities. A seamless co-op mod will lift all those multiplayer restrictions and allow you to play co-op in Dark Souls 2 your way.

Experience a classic with friends

Souls modder known as Yui revealed on Patreon that they have developed a working prototype of a seamless co-op mod for Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin. Yui has previously created a seamless co-op mod for Dark Souls Remastered, Dark Souls III, and Elden Ring.

The Dark Souls 2 seamless co-op mod will remove multiplayer boundaries and timers, while enabling persisting multiplayer sessions after deaths, boss kills, teleports, and more. Expect PvP invasions, optional difficulty modifiers (increased enemy health and damage, friendly fire,) as well as a toggle for full progress synchronisation.

As for when the mod will be available, it appears as if a release date is a long way out. The mod is in very early development and is being worked on alongside Yui’s other mods.
