FragPunk is aiming to make its mark on the free-to-play hero shooter genre by generating unique combat combinations through Shard Cards. Choose between 12 heroes, 17 weapons, and over 100 Shard Cards to outsmart the opposing team in 5v5 first-person battles. Console players who were wanting to play FragPunk as early as tomorrow have now been hit with a last minute delay.
The console release date was supposed to coincide with the PC platform, but those plans have changed. A delay is never good news, but there will be compensation for console players.
FragPunk pushed back on Xbox and PlayStation
In a statement posted on the official FragPunk X account, the developers put the console delay down to “unexpected technical challenges in optimisation and adaptation” during console compliance testing.
Instead of rushing through to the console release and “providing a potentially poor user experience,” the decision has been made to delay the FragPunk launch on Xbox and PlayStation. Nowadays, this is certainly different to the release now and fix later philosophy many modern games appear to be adopting. Hopefully the extra time will result in a polished experience on console from day one.
As for compensation, console players will receive all rewards via engagement, starting with Season 1 until the console version hits storefronts. Also, $10 worth of in-game currency will be provided to all console users at launch.

Console owners that pre-ordered FragPunk will see their pre-orders cancelled and refunded. Of course, this means no more pre-order bonuses, but they’ll be available via a limited-time bundle later down the line.
It’s unknown when FragPunk will release on console, but PC players can still enter the battlefield on March 6, 2025 at 4pm PST.
