Marvel Rivals faced huge backlash when the developers revealed their plans for a ranked reset as the game closes in on the second half of its first season. After sifting through community feedback, those plans have been adjusted to maintain competitive integrity.
Previously, it was announced that ranks in the competitive playlist would be reset with the mid-season update. Based on standings at the end of the first half of Season 1, players were going to drop four divisions.
Putting a pause on rank reset plans
Let’s begin by what is remaining the same from the previous ranked announcement. The first half of the season will still conclude as planned on February 21, 2025. Players at Gold rank will receive the costume reward, as well as Crests of Honors for those in Grandmaster and above, and the Crest of Honor for the top 500 (One Above All.)
However, when the second half of the season begins, there will no longer be a rank reset. To earn new rewards, players must instead complete 10 matches in the competitive mode and meet the relevant conditions by the end of the season. Rewards will include another Gold rank costume and further Crest of Honor designs for Grandmaster, Celestial, Eternity, and One Above All ranks.

It’s always a positive to see developers respond to player feedback, especially so quickly. Only time will tell whether or not the ranked mode will go through any changes in the future (or get more unwanted proposals.) With that said, Marvel Rivals is on the right track to keeping the competitive mode alive.
