The DICE Awards are a yearly celebration of games and development teams that bring them to life. As we get closer to the awards show, nominations are being revealed and Marvel Rivals is up for Online Game of the Year.
Marvel Rivals appears untouchable right now, completely taking over the team-based PvP market with a vast array of heroes and villains that players can use to battle it out in competitive, fast-paced matches. Its nomination doesn’t come as too much of a surprise, but does it have what it takes to win?
Wherever Marvel Rivals goes, success follows
Despite being released in December 2024, Marvel Rivals has been nominated for Online Game of the Year at the DICE Awards 2025. Although the game is on a roll, Marvel Rivals is up against some heavy hitters within its nominated category.
The nominees for Online Game of the Year at the 2025 DICE Awards are:
- Marvel Rivals
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
- Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred
- Helldivers 2
- Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2
Call of Duty, Diablo IV, and Warhammer 40,000 are all house hold names, plus Helldivers 2 won Best Multiplayer Game and Best Ongoing Game at the 2024 Game Awards.
The official Marvel Rivals X account commented on the nomination, stating “we’re truly honored and absolutely thrilled! A huge thank you to all the Rivals!”
NetEase Games’ free-to-play hero shooter has a lot more to celebrate, including breaking its own concurrent player record on Steam with the launch of Season 1 and boasting huge profits across all platforms.
Marvel Rivals fans will have to wait and see if the game can carry that momentum forward and take home the prize at the 28th annual DICE Awards which will take place on February 13, 2025.
