Dustborn takes you on a road trip with your crew across a Divided States of America. In this alternate reality, you’ll face various challenges, whether that is missions, managing relationships, or whacking robots with a baseball bat. If you’re yet to play Dustborn, a new demo has launched that completely overhauls the original demo.
Dustborn fully released in August of 2024, so it is unusual to see a fully published title get a new demo. However, a fresh trial has gone live to give a better insight into the complete game.
More Dustborn, free of charge
According to Red Thread Games, the first Dustborn demo doesn’t “demonstrate what Dustborn is all about.” Due to the fact that the original demo was developed for Steam’s Next Fest in June 2024, it didn’t include any updates that the game has gone through since then.
One of the main issues identified in relation to the previous demo is “it dropped you into combat without a proper tutorial, and you didn’t get enough time to hang with the crew — a big part of the Dustborn experience.”
The new demo more closely represents the game. In fact, it contains the first two chapters in full, equating to approximately two hours of playtime depending on your pace. This should be more than enough time to decide whether or not you want to play the entire game. The progress you make in the demo carries over to the full game if you decide to go on and purchase Dustborn.
For existing players, the developers confirm that there are more updates to come. Although exact details are unknown, the majority of upcoming patches and content updates will focus on later chapters and gameplay features such as the combat system.
