Twitch has announced that the price of Tier 1 subs will be increased in 35 countries. Tier 1 is the lowest subscription available and the change will go into effect on July 11, 2024.
Already, Twitch bumped up the price of the Tier 1 subscription back in March for those who reside in the UK, Canada, and Australia. It was only a matter of time before prices were adjusted across other regions to make them align around the world. According to Twitch, streamers will make more money per subscription with this price increase. Surely this will only apply if subscribers can see past the price rise and continue supporting their favourite creators.
A higher price to pay
Let’s dive into the specifics. Once July 11 hits, Tier 1 Twitch subs will cost $5.99 USD in America, a dollar higher than its current price. Viewers in Canada should expect a base subscription to cost $7.99 CAD, while Australia will feel a $8.99 AUD hit to their wallet.
A large bulk of Twitch fans in Europe will see a 25% price increase, while Norway will see a huge 40% climb. To view the full list of countries effected and the new costs that’ll be introduced, you can do so, here.
If you have any subscriptions that automatically renew, the new price will be applied automatically. If you want to cancel a Twitch subscription, you can do so by visiting the Twitch homepage, clicking on your profile picture, selecting “subscriptions” from the drop down menu, and you can then manage all your subscriptions.
Streamers, as well as subscribers will be notified by email of the adjustments. Twitch will host a Patch Notes on June 12 at 9pm GMT/1pm PT to address any questions the community may have.
