The Riftbreaker has received a huge update (no, it’s not co-op) which can be enjoyed by both new and long-time players. There’s plenty of content to get to grips with here, including new scenarios, enemies, and so much more.
There are two parts to the update. One if a free drop which can be downloaded by all players and there’s a second batch of content locked behind a DLC pack.
It’s time to put your Mecha-Suit back to work
The free update introduces players to a Fungal Swamp biome. Based in a river delta, the humidity and high temperature make it a perfect place for mushroom growth. This new biome is home to two new Survival Mode scenarios. Fungal Forest map is a classic Riftbreaker Survival experience. The second scenario takes place on a flooded map, testing your skills with limited resources and space to work with.
As you play through the new biome, expect to be faced with unique creatures which can be taken out with an expanded arsenal of weapons, defensive towers, and more than 70 fresh research items and technologies.
Moving on to the paid DLC, owners of Heart of the Swamp can take part in an expansion to the Story Campaign, set in the Fungal Swamp biome. One of your objectives will be to restore the Great Mushroom Tree, while taking on multi-layered missions, and adapting your base to suit the needs of this environment.
The Riftbreaker Heart of the Swamp DLC costs $9.99/£8.50. If you have previously completed The Riftbreaker Story Campaign, the additional content will unlock immediately. If you’re still working through the base game, aspects of the DLC will unveil as you progress.
