Over the years, there has been many Game of Thrones titles released, but many have failed to get any wind behind their sails. Due to the popularity of the TV show, it’s hardly surprising that another developer is having a crack at bringing the unique world of Game of Thrones to life in a video game.
Game of Thrones premiered on HBO in the United States all the way back in 2011. It quickly grew an international fanbase and was commissioned for eight seasons, before coming to an end in 2019. Since then, there has been spin-offs, most notably House of Dragon.
Winter is coming
A report by Redanian Intelligence has shared some details about what the alleged game could entail. First up, the setting is expected to be in the North as Winterfell and The Wall are supposedly featured. In terms of where it fits in with the TV series, “the story is set somewhere around Game of Thrones Season 4/Season 5. Roose Bolton is already Warden of the North there and Jon Snow with Sam Tarly are still on The Wall.”
Throughout the gameplay experience, it’s expected that players will be able to meet these characters, but the original cast won’t be returning as voice actors. According to Redanian Intelligence, the title will have a “story campaign, but it’s online.” Apparently, you can choose between a male and female protagonist and the one that remains unselected is thought to be somewhat involved in one way or another.
Although there isn’t a release date set in stone and information is scarce at this stage, if the rumours are true, Game of Thrones fans could be in for an incredible adventure that finally does the show justice.
