Fortnite’s player count is higher than ever with the launch of Season OG. The return of the Chapter 1 Season 5 map, along with its iconic points of interest and nostalgic loot pool took fans all the way back to 2018. However, a problem that came to light shortly after the update went live was the amount of shields (or the lack of) players were finding around the Fortnite island.
The Chug Jug also returned to the game which is a legendary item that replenishes both your health and shield back to 100. Although this is extremely powerful, a Chug Jug takes a total of 15 seconds to use and they can’t be stacked. When you’re in a gunfight or an enemy is nearby, big and mini shields are a better option, that’s if you can find any.
Fortnite increase the spawn rate of shields
The official Fortnite Status account on X which provides battle royale service updates announced the “balance adjustment.” They state, “we’ve slightly increased the drop rate for both Small Shield Potions and Shield Potions in Battle Royale while still keeping things OG.”
It’s unclear if Chug Jugs will appear less frequently now that there are more regular shields on the ground and in chests. With that being said, it’s promising to see Epic Games respond to player feedback, especially since Season OG is scheduled to last for only a month.
Already, the Fortnite community has greeted the update in a positive manner, but that’s not all fans can expect to see in the coming weeks. Epic Games are preparing to roll out regular content, taking both new and veteran players on a tour of Chapter 1’s history.
