While it’s primarily known for developing quality scenery add-ons, LatinVFR has recently been dabbling more and more in the business of aircraft creation. After already releasing the Airbus A318, A319, and A320 for Microsoft Flight Simulator a while back, the studio is now trying its hand at the wide-body members of the Airbus clan: the A330 and A340.
Just recently announced is the incoming arrival of LatinVFR’s Airbus A330/A340 and it is set to launch later this week.
Bringing out the big wings
The Airbus A330 and 340 serve as the mid-range option from Airbus when it comes to passenger variants. Being significantly larger than their narrow-body counterparts, these wide-bodies fulfil various kinds of missions that call for larger capacities and greater ranges.
They’re used extensively by many European and Asian carriers, though some North American carriers such as American, Delta and Air Canada also fly them.
According to LatinVFR, the new Airbus A330/A340 family for Microsoft Flight Simulator will kick off with the release of the A330neo on Thursday, October 19. “In the coming weeks” we will then see the release of the A340-300. Finally, the A330-200CEO and A340-600 will hit the runway at some point in 2024.
As was the case with the narrow-body offerings, the LatinVFR has squarely stated that these new Airbus models should not be considered to be ‘study-level.’ Rather, they’re being described as “middle-ground types,” offering the team’s own custom systems, avionics, and more. So, they’ll still be a step above the basic offerings of some of the default airliners included in the sim.
LatinVFR has teamed up with the talented folks over at AviationLads on YouTube to show off the Airbus A330neo in action:
A price for the new add-ons has not yet been revealed, but the studio has at least confirmed that Xbox simmers will also be able to get in on the action come Thursday.
