EA has officially revealed EA Sports WRC, the newest entry in the in the DiRT Rally series.
That’s right, this is a DiRT game with similar physics engine, same developers, but with an all-new name.
Under the hood
Powered by the Unreal Engine (the exact version of which has not yet been revealed,) the new EA Sports WRC has been built by the Codemasters team, which has a long history in the rally racing genre.
In lieu of a full-on DiRT Rally 3.0, the new EA Sports WRC seeks to provide a “truly next-generation rally game” and is set to be “the quintessential title for sim-racing enthusiasts,” as Codemasters puts it.
EA Sports WRC will feature the physics from the DiRT Rally series, now polished up and refined thanks to the move to Unreal Engine. According to the developers, this move “has enabled us to push rally to the edge of what’s deemed possible.”
The new racing sim set to feature 18 official locations that are also a part of the real FIA World Rally Championship, “and over 600km of unforgiving, asphalt, gravel, and snow stages.” 68 rally cars ranging from various generations are a part of the roster, “spanning 60 years of the sport.”
